The Current State of Our Environment
Water is a dominant part of our everyday lives and is quickly becoming a very scarce resource. Local water sources such as lakes, reservoirs, and groundwater continue to decline despite regular rain events. Rainwater actually flows away from these areas because of urban development. Water cannot soak into asphalt, concrete or shingles. It flows very quickly off of these surfaces and carries everything from dirt and oil to pesticides into our waterways. According to the EPA, urban runoff is the number one cause of pollution in coastal environments.
Rainwater Harvesting
Our current challenge is to improve the planet's water quality and then to maintain clean and healthy water that supports all life forms in our diverse environment. One of the easiest ways to do this is by reusing rainwater. Rainwater Harvesting refers to the collection and storage of rainwater.
Did You Know?
- One inch of rainfall on a 2,000 sq. ft. residential roof generates 1,250 gallons of water that can be reused.
- That same roof in a region receiving 30 inches of annual rainfall generates 41,000 gallons of reusable water.
- The average US household with a 10,000 sq. ft. lot uses up to 3,000 gallons of water weekly for landscape irrigation.

The RainXchange adds the beauty of a water feature to an efficient system for capturing, filtering and reusing our most precious resource - water! RainXchange filters stored water to prevent stagnation and growth of unhealthy bacteria. A small pump is connected to the stored water making it convenient for you to water the landscape.
